CABLE WORLD STAFF
Partying With Isaak He made female critics swoon at last summer's TCA tour - one reporter even asked him out - despite the fact he was appearing before the pundits via satellite.
Now Showtime is hoping for a similar reaction to an upcoming national sweepstakes, touting the debut of The Chris Isaak Show this spring. Viacom's premium network is teaming with Yahoo! Travel and Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Hotel to award 10 grand prize winners with trips for two to Hawaii that will include a private beach party/concert with the performer, who has starred in such sultry videos as "Wicked Game" and penned a song on the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's finale, Eyes Wide Shut.
Produced by Viacom Productions, The Chris Isaak Show will take an irreverent look at the life of a rock musician. Featuring Isaak, his real-life band members and a quirky ensemble of created characters, the stories offer a fanciful mix of fact and fiction.
The sweepstakes will be promoted on-air by Showtime, through affiliate cross-channel on-air spots and online at Yahoo! Travel. In addition, the sweepstakes will include radio contests in 20 markets, each of which will also offer trips for two to Hawaii.
Other island hops, as well as incentive prizes, will be given out in a series of special contests geared toward Showtime affiliates.
Moreover, affiliate customer contact reps will also have an opportunity to win "Beach Party" trips and other awards with a point of sale promotion that includes incentives, training and promotional tactics, all aimed at introducing personnel to the network's upcoming series and star.
From Feb. 15 to March 22, consumers will be able to enter "The Chris Isaak Beach Party Sweepstakes" by logging on to Yahoo! Travel at travel .yahoo.com or by mail.
