CBS CABLE: Ronald C. Kelly joins CBS Cable as publicist for TNN. He had been assistant managing editor of TVSM's The Cable Guide, Total TV and See magazines. Prior to that he was on staff at TV Guide.
CHAMBERS COMMUNICATIONS CORP.: Bill Nagy has been named president of Chambers Productions and COO for its parent company, Chambers Communications Corp. He will be responsible for the company's growth and will oversee operations for Chambers three divisions: production, broadcast and cable. He had been VP-production for ABC News
EMPIRE SPORTS NETWORK: Bob Trimble joins the network as the new host of Fan TV; he had been with WKBD-TV in Detroit where he was assistant sports director. Kerry Sayers has been hired as general sports reporter and will contribute to the network's regionally produced shows; she had been an anchor and reporter for WILX-TV in Lansing, Mich., and had previously covered basketball for the Catholic Television Network in Detroit.
HBO: Dominic Ambrosio has been named director-post production for HBO Studio Productions; he had managed business development operations for the Harris/PBS DTV Express project in Florida. While in Florida he was also in a senior executive position at the Home Shopping Network. Phil Roter has been named managing director of HBO International-Poland. Bruce Zeller, VP/GM of the network's Chicago office will replace Roter who is currently managing director of HBO International-Czech.
LEARNING CHANNEL: Mary Ellen Iwata has been promoted from executive producer to VP-development and special projects. She joined Discovery Communications Inc. in 1989 as an executive producer and later became director-production and development. Prior to that, she was an independent producer for PBS, Fox and Discovery Channel.
MEDIAONE GROUP: Robert Rittler has been appointed director-advertising systems planning and support. He will be responsible for developing and implementing advertising sales strategies for cable and new media sales. He had been director-engineering and systems development for Your choice TV. Gregory L. Cannon has been named VP-law and public policy for the company's Midwest region based in Southfield, Mich. He had been senior attorney-broadband law for the company, and was also with US West in management, legal and public policy positions. Cannon replaces Jon Kreucher who has been named VP-legal and public policy for MediaOne's new South Florida region. Rich Walker has been promoted to VP-corporate development. He has held previous positions with the company in investor relations, business development and strategic marketing. Before joining the company he was with Arthur Andersen & Co. Stephen McPhie, EVP-European Broadband Operations will have his responsibilities increased to include international corporate development. He has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry, and was previously president/CEO of Time Warner Telecom.
MGM NETWORKS LATIN AMERICA: Alfredo Duran has been named VP-programming & marketing; he had been managing director of WAMI-TV, Channel 69 in Miami and GM of two Spanish language stations in South Florida, WSCV-TV, Channel 51 and WLTV, Channel 23. He was also president-publisher of the weekly Spanish language magazine, Exito. Melvin M. Perez has been promoted to SVP-finance & administration; he had been VP-finance for the network and prior to that was director-operations/finance for the Spanish language television network Telemundo and WSCV-TV.
MSG NETWORK: Steve Mars has been appointed VP-marketing. He has held a variety of positions with ABC, AMC/Bravo and SportsChannel New York. Mars received four New York Emmy awards and six PROMAX awards for local and regional TV spots, promotional animation and non-promotional image animation.
MTV NETWORKS: Jason Malamud has been named VP-affiliate advertising sales; he had been national director-affiliate advertising sales, and had eight years of national ad sales and broadcast operations experience before joining the network in 1993. Adriana Medici has been named account manager-affiliate sales for MTV Networks Latin America. She will be responsible for selling MTV and Nickelodeon Latin America signals to cable operators in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Prior to joining the network she had been an affiliate sales representative at the Weather Channel Latin America.
MUSIC CHOICE: The following personnel changes have been announced: Michael Cooper, programming director; Azalea Howard, administrative coordinator; Valerie Nay, VP-sales development & sponsorship sales; Ramona Ewing, promoted from coordinator of the Central region to affiliate relations representative; Bobbie Jo Johnson, customer service representative; and Abel Winser, South Central regional manager.
NEW LINE CINEMA: Jayne Bieber has been named VP-television production for New Line Television, a division of New Line Cinema Corp. Most recently she was a production consultant at the Disney Channel and prior to that was head of production at the Konigsberg/Sanitsky Company. Martha Fainberg has been named manager-development & production for New Line Television; she had been with NBC Entertainment where she was coordinator for primetime programming and development.
NEWS CORP.: NDS Asia Pacific Ltd., a subsidiary of News Corp., has announced the addition of Wilton Fok Wai Tung and George Liu Ya Guang to the sales support team. Both are pre-sales technical support engineers.
NICKELODEON: Bethany Bunnell has been named to the newly created position of VP-creative services for Nickelodeon Latin America. She had been with SKY Laing America where she was VP & creative director. Prior to that, she had been director of creative services for Star TV (Satellite Television Asian Region Ltd.).
ON COMMAND CORP.: Richard D. Goldstein, J. David Wargo and J.C. Sparkman have been named to the company's board of directors. Goldstein was a managing director and one of the principals of Alpine Capital Group Inc. and was with the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Wargo is president of Wargo & Company and was a managing director with the Putnam Companies. Sparkman was EVP-COO of Tele-Communications Inc. He serves on the boards of TCI, Shaw Communications and Universal Electronics.
PANAMSAT CORP: John T. Gwynn has been named VP-telecom services and will oversee business communications, Internet, telephony, distance learning, government and radio services. He had been director-marketing for Hughes Communications Inc. SPACEWAY project, a planned Ka-band satellite system for provision of broadband communications. Michael J. Inglese has been appointed VP-finance and will manage the company's financial operations, including mergers and acquisitions and the finance and accounting functions of the company's foreign subsidiaries. He had been CFO for DirecTV Japan Inc.
PAXSON: Michael A. Guariglia has been appointed VP-network sales for PAX TV; he had been VP-director of sales & marketing for CBS. Paul Wang has been named EVP; he had operated his own marketing and production company for entertainment clients including CBS, ABC, UPN, Fox Television, Columbia Tristar Home Video, McCann Erickson and Sony Pictures.
PEARSON TELEVISION NORTH AMERICA: Richard Mann has been promoted to SVP-creative services where he will be responsible for the marketing and promotional activities of the company's domestic syndication programming; he had been VP-creative services and will remain in the company's New York offices.
PRINCETON VIDEO IMAGE INC.: Dennis P. Wilkinson has been named president/ CEO; he had been SVP-marketing & programming at Primestar Inc., and prior to that was SVP-consumer marketing at Time Warner Entertainment/Home Box Office.
SHOWTIME: Gina Goldberg has been promoted from VP-affiliate marketing services to SVP-marketing. Julie Nunnari has been promoted to SVP-program scheduling, program information and analysis.
SIECOR: William G. Martin has been named SVP-customer support services, a new organization that will include the company's customer service, engineering service and corporate communications departments. He was previously SVP-general sales manager for technical sales and marketing. John D. Rockett has been named SVP-general sales manager; he had been VP-private network & international sales.
SPRINT PCS: Jay Highley has been named VP-business customer strategic business unit; he had been regional VP of national accounts and prior to that was with Sprint's local telecommunications & long distance divisions. John-Scott Dixon has been named VP-electronic commerce; he had been director of electronic commerce at Insight.
SSE TELECOM INC.: James J. Commendatore has been appointed EVP-CFO; he had been president/GM of CPI's satcom division in Palo Alto, Calif. Prior to that he managed operations and was head of finance at Varian's microwave equipment products division in Santa Clara.
TCI: Steven Hall has been named VP-finance for TCI Central Inc. In addition to being director of acquisitions accounting for TCI Communications Inc. and controller for TCI's southeast division and VP-finance at Jupiter Cable in Japan, he was previously associated with KPMG and Encore Media. Patricia Andrews-Keenan has been appointed executive director of communications for the Great Lakes division; she had been director of public affairs with Jones Intercable in Chicago. Andrews-Keenan was a Walter Kaitz Foundation Fellow in 1988.
3 RING CIRCUS: Jim Kealy has been named creative director. He had been creative director at Pittard Sullivan, and won an Emmy in 1992 for the NBC Summer Olympic Games. He was also associated with Digital Productions, and as a free lance art director he worked on projects including ABC' Nightline, CBS Evening News, ABC Theater and the design of the Hollywood Pictures logo.
TIME WARNER CABLE: Douglas Frank has been promoted to general manager of its Pottsville, Penna. cable system; he had been director-operations for TWC's Reading, Penna. system. Prior to joining the company in 1994, he was with Cable TV Montgomery, Rockville, Md. Sylvester E. Williams IV has been named GM for Wade Cable in Philadelphia and will assume the role January 4, 1999. He had been GM for the company's Advance Newhouse partnership operation in Elmira, N.Y. Prior to that he was manager of business development and manager of special projects of community services for Time Warner Cable in Memphis, Tenn.
TURNER BROADCASTING: Keith Simmons has been appointed to the newly created position of VP-national sales manager for Turner Sports Sales; he had been VP-Turner Sports Sales in Detroit. Simmons will remain in Detroit and will increase his sales management responsibilities to include the network's Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta offices.
USA NETWORKS: Mary Ellen Holden has been promoted from VP-brand manager to SVP-marketing. In her new role she will have expanded duties in brand management and marketing both on and off-air. Before joining the network, she was VP-consumer products/new business promotions for Nickelodeon. Prior to that she was director-marketing worldwide for Jim Henson Productions. Josh Greenberg has joined the Sci-Fi Channel as VP-marketing/creative division and Lauren de la Fuente has been named VP-off-air in the creative division. The following have been promoted: Seth Berkman, VP-on-air, creative division and E. J. Port-Robson, director-strategic planning and scheduling.
U.S. SATELLITE BROADCASTING: Bob Bedford has been promoted from director of telemarketing operations to VP-telemarketing operations. Before joining USSB he was in telemarketing and customer service operations for the Fingerhut Companies.
USTA: Michael E. Rubin has joined the company as director-government relations. Most recently he was legislative director for U. S. Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.). Prior to that he was a senior analyst on the majority staff of the House Budget Committee. In his new role he will be responsible for the association's lobbying efforts and will focus on tax and universal service legislative issues.
VALUEVISION INTERNATIONAL INC.: Gene McCaffery, CEO of the company, has been named to the four member board of directors of Net Radio Corp. Prior to joining ValueVision, he was CEO/managing partner of Marketing Advocates, and before that he was SEVP of Montgomery Ward & Co.
VIACOM INC.: Jack Romanos has been appointed president/COO of Simon & Schuster; he had been president of the Consumer Group, the publishing arm of Viacom Inc. He will be responsible for all of Simon & Schuster's publishing businesses and online and new media publishing.
VIBRANT TECHONOLOGIES INC.: Thomas W. Christenson has been named VP-sales; he had been director-broadcast sales for SeaChange International and prior to that was sales manager for Tektronix, Inc.
WARNER BROTHERS: Ken Parks has been appointed VP-business and legal affairs for the company's domestic pay-TV, cable and network features. He had been VP-business affairs for Warner Bros. Music and director-business affairs at Warner Bros. Television.

BBC AMERICA: Jo Petherbridge has been named VP-communications. She joined BBC in London in 1991 as science program publicist and was later senior publicity officer for factual programs. Moving to New York in 1997, Petherbridge was involved in the launch of BBC America last year. Polly Hunter has been named director-programming. She joined BBC radio in 1991, and was part of the launch team for BBC Prime, the BBC's European Entertainment Channel, where she was previously planning manager.

CARTOON NETWORK: Laurie Goldberg has been named VP-public relations; she had been with Pinnacle Brands Inc., a Dallas-based sports trading card company. Prior to that she was VP-public relations for Action Packed Trading Cards in Itasca, Ill.
CHARLTON GROUP: Rod Schwegel has been promoted from VP to COO. He will continue to focus on partnerships, growth and daily operations. William Carlson has named director-cable television services; he had been director-marketing for Marcus Cable's North Central region. CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS: David L. McCall has been named SVP-operations, Eastern division; he had been Southeast regional operations manager and SVP-operations, Southeast region. CNBC: Joe Witte has been named chief meteorologist beginning Jan. 4, 1999. He will be the network's first full-time meteorologist. He is a meteorologist on NewsChannel 4, Today in New York and chief meteorologist for NBC's News at Sunrise and Sunday Today. He also files daily weather reports with CNBC's Today's Business.
COMMUNICATIONS EQUITY ASSOCIATES: Amanda Wang has joined the company's Hong Kong office as assistant VP and will be responsible for expanding the company's activities in the Asia Pacific region. She had been a consultant to an international media company advising on its entry in Asia. Colin Clapton has joined the firm as EVP, Cable Television. He had been president/CEO of the Mark's Group, and prior to that he was with the Fleet Financial Group.
CONVERGYS CORP.: James M. Dahmus has been appointed head of the new utilities business unit in the company's information management group where he will be responsible for executive management, strategic planning and business development. He had been SVP-controller for the group. Prior to that he was VP-controller of Cincinnati Bell Inc. and director-international finance for Procter & Gamble.
DOLBY LABORATORIES: Robert Rast has been named VP-electronic media; he had been VP-technical business development for General Instrument where he focused on HDTV and coordinated the company's participation in setting standards for the industry. Prior to that he was SVP with American Television & Communications and engineering manager with RCA.
DSI SYSTEMS INC.: H. Taylor Howard, a pioneer of the C-Band satellite industry, has been named to the board of directors. He is a co-founder of Chaparral Communications where he retains an ownership interest. Howard is past president of the Satellite Broadcasters Communications Assn., where a foundation in his name was created in 1994 to provide information and career opportunities for anyone interested in the satellite and telecommunications industry.
E!: Barry Nugent has been appointed director-talent relations; he had been with E! News where he had positions as producer, assignment desk supervisor and assignment manager. Lisa Rowen has been promoted from manager-talent and development to director-talent and development. Prior to joining the network she was with the Democratic National Committee. David T. Cassaro and Mark Feldman have been promoted to the newly created position of EVP. Cassaro had been SVP-advertising sales, and Feldman had been SVP-business and legal affairs/general counsel.
ESPN: Sean Bratches has been promoted from VP-affiliate sales and marketing to SVP-affiliate sales and marketing. He joined the network in 1988 as account executive, Northeast region, and has been promoted through the ranks. Prior to joining ESPN he was an account executive for Storer Television Sales in Dallas, and was also an account executive for Buxton Inc.

FOOD NETWORK: Bruce Seidel has been named director-scheduling; he had been with Discovery Communications where he was programming scheduling manager for Animal Planet. Sarah Cohen has been appointed director-new media; she had been director of new media at Parade Publications. Cohen has been the recipient of several online Web site awards for her technical and creative work. Jane Fletcher joins the network in the newly-created position of marketing manager-special events; she had been marketing managing at Comedy Central. Amy Morrison has been promoted from account executive, Eastern region, affiliate sales and marketing to marketing manager-affiliate sales.
FOX: Michelynn Woodard has been named manager-network distribution for the Eastern region. She will be based in New York and be the liaison for Mid-west and Eastern regional affiliates, station groups, owners and personnel. Previously, she was manager, sale research and marketing at Fox. She had also been at Public Broadcasting Service in Washington, D.C.
FOX KIDS: Kathy Abbott has been promoted from writer-producer on-air promotion to director-production and administration, on-air promotion. Prior to coming to the network, she was president of Current Media.
GAYLORD ENTERTAINMENT CO.: Craig L. Leipold, chairman/CEO of the National Hockey League Predators and of the Rainfair Corp., Racine, Wis., has been named to the entertainment company's board of directors.
GREATER MEDIA INC.: Arthur F. Goody has been appointed VP-marketing and programming; he had been regional marketing manager for the company's Central Massachusetts cable systems. He will remain in Worcester, Mass.

GREYSTONE COMMUNICATIONS: Craig Haffner, a principal of the company has been named chairman-CEO; Donna E. Lusitana, also a principal and a member of the board of directors, has been named president. HALLMARK ENTERTAINMENT: F. Kip Vanderbilt has been appointed SVP-worldwide advertising sales; he has been at the Weather Channel since 1985, most recently as VP-international sales. Prior to that, he was with A.C.Nielsen Company, NHI and NTI divisions. Jeffrey Johnson has been named to the new position of VP-managing director, Asia Pacific. He will be responsible for the affiliate sales and marketing of Hallmark Entertainment Network and Kermit Channel. He had been director-marketing/programming for Optus Vision in Sydney, Australia.
IMEDIA CORP.: Peter van der Gracht has joined the company as president/CEO; he had been VP/GM for Scientific-Atlanta's head-end systems division. Co-founder and president of Nexus Engineering Group, van der Gracht has been honored as Entrepreneur of the Year by the editorial board of BC Business Magazine. He was awarded a Silver Medal of Entrepreneurship by Canada Awards for Business Excellence and was selected Business Leader of the Year by Vancouver's Board of Trade.

INSIDE MULTIMEDIA: Bernard J. Luskin has been named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for seminal contributions to digital media. Given as part of the DVD Summit 2, a conference supported by the European Commission, the government of Ireland and Inside Multimedia, the award will be presented at Dublin Castle March 31, 1999. Long active in television and cable, Luskin was CEO at Jones Interactive and president of Mind Extension University and Knowledge TV. He was also president/CEO of Philips Interactive Media of America and Philips Education and Reference Publishing. He is the author of seven books and co-director of the 1998 Task Force Report on Media Psychology and New Technologies for the American Psychological Association's Media Psychology division. He teaches at Claremont Graduate University in California and at the Fielding Institute. Inside Multimedia is a European newsletter for the interactive media industry.

Anderson has been named cable television station manager for the government access facility for the city of Oakland, Calif.; he had been director-cable and television for the city of Murfreesboro, Tenn. Anderson is president-elect for the National Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors for 1999-2000.
LODGENET ENTERTAINMENT CORP.: David M. Bankers has been promoted to SVP-chief technology officer. Prior to joining the company in 1989, he managed Digital Data Productions for TGS Technology. Jeffrey T. Weisner has been promoted from VP-finance to SVP-CFO. He had been VP, secretary and treasurer for CompuServe Inc. before joining the company in 1994. Darla J. Werner has been named VP-corporate technologies; he had been director-systems engineering in corporate technologies. Prior to joining the company, she had been at EROS Data Center. Roger McAulay has been named VP-Internet technologies; he had been president and founder of Connect Group, which was acquired by LodgeNet.
MEDIAONE: Greater Boston Cable Advertising, a division of MediaOne, has named Scott McGavick regional sales manager of Boston Interconnect. He will be responsible for developing systems and sales tools to compete with Boston broadcast stations and create new business. He had previously been local sales and national sales manager for WSBK-TV, Channel 38 in Boston. The following personnel changes have been announced: Jane Perdue, formerly VP-human resources for the Midwest region in Detroit has been appointed corporate VP-human resources for customer care initiatives in Denver. Barbara Grigsby, former director-learning and development for the Midwest region in Detroit and the Northeast region, has been appointed VP-human resources for the Midwest region. Greg Gallegos, formerly director-human resources for Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, a Polish company in which Media One International has an ownership interest, has been appointed to the new position of VP-human resources for the National Markets Group based in Denver. Donna Miller, formerly director-human resources with U S West, has been named director-human resources. Heather McDougall, former staffing specialist in the Western region has been appointed manager of staffing for the corporate office in Denver.
MILITARY CHANNEL: George Finkel has been named executive producer of the sports programming division. He had most recently directed the Miami Dolphins' preseason telecasts, ESPN's football production and CBS Sports' basketball production. His experience includes 19 years at NBC Sports. He was nominated for more than 30 Sports Emmys, winning three.

NORTH AMERICAN TELEVISION NETWORK: Ellen Jane Klein has been named VP-affiliate sales at Trio and Newsworld International, programming sevices of NATV. She had been director-affiliate and broadcast sales at SmartRoute Systems. Prior to that she was senior director-affiliate sales and marketing of the Eastern region for Television Food Network. Klein was nominated for the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute Fellow (WICT) in 1998.

NICKELODEON: Jean Margaret Smith has been promoted from director-public affairs to VP-public affairs and administration. She began at the network in 1994 as director-special projects. William Weil has been promoted to VP-business development; he had been a director in the business development group.

NIELSEN MEDIA RESEARCH: Harry R. Stecker, former president/CEO of Petry Television, has joined the company as general manager-local services. Prior to joining Petry, he was with Arbitron Ratings Company where he was VP-advertiser/agency sales. Terrence Sekel has been named to the newly created position of VP-director of marketing for Nielsen Advertiser Services. He had been director-integrated sales and marketing for ESPN, and prior to that was in advertising sales for CNN International.
ODYSSEY CHANNEL: Len Marino has been appointed VP-creative services/on-air promotion; he had been director-on-air marketing promotion for Hallmark Entertainment and Kermit Channel. Prior to that, he was executive producer of Encore Media Group in Denver and writer-producer in creative services for Turner Broadcasting's CNN.
OHIO NEWS NETWORK: Eric Elwell has been named chief meteorologist; he had been with WTVA-TV, an NBC affiliate in Tupelo, Miss., and KAKE-TV, an ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kan. He has earned Television Seals of Approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
PANAMSAT CORP.: Bridget Neville has been named VP-engineering; she has been a consultant to the company for the past two years and principally managed the integration and testing functions for the space systems/Loral-built satellites. Prior to that she had several positions with Huges Space and Communications Co. James Frownfelter has been named VP-space systems and will manage the spacecraft and launch vehicle acquisitions efforts. He had been with the consulting firm, Phil Rubin & Associates, and had previously been with Fokker Aircraft and Hughes Space and Communications Company.

PCIA: Brent Weingardt has been appointed VP-government relations; he had been regulatory counsel for Iridium LLC, and prior to that was senior associate for Steptoe & Johnson. Weingardt headed his own consulting firm, and was at the FCC from 1983-1990.
