Court TV plans to spend $6 million to promote its first original movie, Guilt by Association.
The film stars Mercedes Ruehl and premieres March 13.
In an unusual bit of media planning, the TV movie is being promoted via 60-second trailers in movie theaters. The trailers will appear on more than 1,900 movie theaters screens in the United Artists, Regal and Loews/Cineplex chains nationwide.
The campaign also uses national broadcast and cable commercials and print and outdoor advertising, including the sides of buses and telephone kiosks. The network also worked with Clear Channel Radio to create a radio buy in 27 major markets. Clear Channel was chosen because of its strength in the 18-to-49 adult female market.
In a partnership with Court TV, cable operators are sponsoring local premieres of Guilt by Association in their markets as well as running cross-channel spots highlighting the movie. Additionally, the network and its affiliates plan local screenings for legal and law enforcement personnel, educators and advertisers.
?Given the rapid growth of Court TV, this highly aggressive, multiplatform marketing campaign is designed to reach the maximum number of current and potential network viewers,? Evan Shapiro, Court TV's VP-marketing, said in a statement.
