CABLE POSITIVE: The following have been named to the board of directors: Maggie Bellville, VP-operations, Cox Communications Inc.; Tom Stapleton, senior executive director/CEO of InterMedia Partners; Rob Stoddard, VP-corporate communications, MediaOne Group; and Joe Waz, VP-external affairs & public policy counsel, Comcast Corp. Bill Bresnan, president/CEO of Bresnan Communications and Michael Willner, president/CEO of Insight Communications, have been named Cable Positive honorary chairs. The following have been named finalists in the Brad Wojcoski Memorial Award competition: Gwen Marcus, EVP-general counsel & administration, Showtime; Erica Stull, director-corporate communications, Jones Intercable. They are joined by local cable systems: Mountain View (Calif.) Community Television; TCI Cable, Marin County, Calif.; Paragon Cable, Portland, Ore; and Time Warner Cable, Albany, N.Y. Cable Positive, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness, funding education, research and care for AIDS, awarded $500 grants to the AIDS organizations of the finalists' choice.

CABLEVISION: Rebecca Bradshaw has been named VP-alliance marketing. She had been a partnership marketing consultant for American Movie Classics-sponsorship properties. Prior to that, she was senior promotions manager at Mattell Inc.

COLUMBINE JDS: Doug Rother has been promoted from EVP-COO to president. Prior to joining the company in 1994, he had been president, Jefferson-Pilot Data Services. Mike Oldman has been promoted from SVP & director-sales & marketing to COO. He joined the company in 1990 and had been with CitiCorp Information Resources, bank & thrift division. Mark Eagle has been named EVP. He joined the company in 1997 as SVP after being VP/GM of the company's New York office.

COMCAST CORP.: Jim Gordon has been named director-government & public affairs for the Baltimore Metro area. A five-year veteran of the MSO, he had been director-special projects for the Baltimore area where he planned and implemented community events.

COMMUNICATIONS EQUITY ASSO.: David A. Burns has been named president. He joined the company in 1990 as assistant controller. In 1992, he joined the company's entertainment division, and was later named COO.

COURT TV: Glenn Moss has been named VP-business & legal affairs; he had been associate general counsel. Rochelle Copeland DiRe has been appointed VP-human resources; she had been director-human resources. Emil Freund is VP-information technologies; he was most recently MIS director for the network's American Lawyer Media; and Jon Coats has been named VP-office services & facilities; he had been director-office services.

COX COMMUNICATONS: Sharon Boyd has been promoted to general sales manager for CableRep Advertising in Las Vegas; she had been with CableRep, Phoenix, where she was sales manager for two years at Arizona News Channel. CableRep is the advertising arm of Cox. David Livengood has been appointed director-broadcast process improvement in San Diego. He had been director marketing for data products in Atlanta since 1996. Prior to that, he was director-customer operations & business telephony for SBC CableComms in the U.K.

CNN: Mike Boettcher has been named national correspondent; he had been a correspondent for NBC News, contributing to NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and the Today show. He will be based in Atlanta. Boettcher has been the recipient of numerous awards, including two Emmys, two National Headliner awards and the top award from the National Society of Professional Journalists. He also received awards from the Associated Press and United Press International. Charlayne Hunter-Gault has joined the network as the Johannesburg bureau chief & correspondent. She will assume her duties with the network in April from National Public Radio where she was the chief corespondent in Africa. Prior to joining NPR, she had been with PBS for 20 years, where she had been the national correspondent for The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Debra Kocher has been named to the newly-created position of VP-special projects for CNN Financial News; she had been VP-editorial production for CNNfn and CNN Financial News. David Bohrman has been named EVP-CNNfn; he had been VP & executive-in-charge of Moneyline with Lou Dobbs.

CONVERGYS CORP.: Gary C. Butler has been elected to the board of directors. He is president/COO of Automatic Data Processing where he has been a member of the company's board of directors since 1996. He is also a member of the board of CareerBuilder, an Internet job posting/recruiting service.

CTIA: Christina Martin has been named VP-communications. She had been press secretary to Newt Gingrich, former U.S. speaker of the House. Prior to that, she served in a variety of political communications roles, and held positions in the Office of Presidential Speechwriting.

DANIELS & ASSOC.: Brad Busse has been promoted to president and will continue to serve as COO, a position he has held since 1995. He joined the firm in 1985.

DIVA SYSTEMS CORP.: David F. Zucker has been named to the newly-created position of president/CEO. He had been managing director of ESPN International and EVP of ESPN. He had also been an executive of the Walt Disney Company/ABC Inc. Paul M. Cook, who has been chairman/CEO of the company, will continue in his role as chairman of the board.

FASTV INC.: William Swegles has been named president. He had been VP/Officer & GM at U S West/MediaOne where he was responsible for worldwide new media, interactive TV and Internet. He also conceived and launched online Yellow Pages businesses, Big Yellow and Switchboard. Prior to that, he was VP & officer of marketing, sales and development of Motorola's new enterprises.

FOX FAMILY: Lisa O'Brien has been named director-on-air promotion-children's programming. She had been senior producer in on-air promotions for the Disney Channel. While at Discovery Channel, O'Brien was a story editor and segment producer where she won a Cable Ace nomination for best children's series for "Mega Movie Magic." She was also a writer/producer for ABC Television.

FOX SPORTS LATIN AMERICA: Ruben Espejel Velazquez has been chosen to co-host Fox Sports Noticias. He previously played professional soccer for Mexico's "Pumas" and was a reporter commentator on Multivision before joining Fox in 1996 as a reporter. His co-host is Martin Liberman. The show is seen throughout Latin America.

FOX SPORTS: Tony Quatrini has been named general sales manager at the network's affiliate in Pittsburgh. He had been an account executive for WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh since last year, and has been a sales and marketing executive for the Hearst Broadcasting Co. since 1982. He was director of sports marketing and sports sales manager for WTAE/WVTY radio from 1990-1998.

GENERAL INSTRUMENT: Dan Schaefer has been elected to the company's board of directors. He will be a member of the board's audit committee. Schaefer had been in the U.S. House of Representatives from Colorado's sixth district from 1983-1998. He served in both the Colorado house and senate, and was an educator and public affairs consultant.

GOLF CHANNEL: Tony Tortorici has been named executive producer/VP-production. He joins the network after 16 years with ABC Sports, most recently as coordinating producer for college football and basketball and Wide World of Sports. He won two Emmy awards for Wide World of Sports.

HGTV: Michael Pardee has joined Scripps Network as VP-research. He will oversee the newly combined research departments of HGTV and the Food Network. He had been with Your Choice TV where he was VP-research. Prior to that, he worked at Nielsen Research for more than 14 years, most recently as product manager, new media services.

INSIGHT MEDIA ADVERTISING: Chris Yoos has been appointed local sales manager in the Columbus, Ohio, office. He had been an account executive, and, prior to that, was media supervisor at HMS Partners. He was also with Bates USA and Ron Foth Advertising. Lynn Wombacher has been promoted from account executive to national sales manager. Prior to joining the company in 1997, she had been local sales manager for Cox Communications of Central Ohio.

KETCHUM: Bob Wheeler has been named VP-public relations in the company's Dallas office. He had been with Wheeler/Ridlon Communications, a firm he founded in 1996. Prior to that, he was VP-media relations for Liberty Sports Inc. (Fox Sports). He had also been manager of public relations for ABC Sports.

MILITARY CHANNEL: Bill Datre has been named director-Northeast affiliate sales. He had been affiliate relations manager at Fox Sports New England. Prior to that, he was at TitanSports Inc., the parent company of the World Wrestling Federation. Marco Williams has been appointed director-West Coast affiliate sales. He had been manager-sales & affiliate marketing at Playboy Entertainment Group Inc. He had also been affiliate manager at Black Entertainment Television.

USA NETWORKS: Susan Lewis has been promoted from senior manager-Western region to director-affiliate relations, Western region. Prior to joining the network in 1996, she was with ESPN. She serves as a national at-large director for Women in Cable and Telecommunications. Lisa Sumja has joined the network as VP-affiliate relations, Western region. She had been with Scripps Network as VP-national accounts, Western region. She has also held positions with DIC Entertainment LP, ESPN and KESQ-TV, an ABC affiliate in Palm Springs, Calif. Barry Baker has been named president/COO. He will also serve on the board of directors of USA and Ticketmaster Online-City Search Inc. He had been CEO/designate of Sinclair Communications.

WEATHER CHANNEL: Rolando Figuerora has been named manager-affiliate relations, Northern region for Weather Channel Latin America. He had been with Telefonica Multimedia of Peru as brand and programming manager. Dee Dee Atta has joined the network as director-planning and development. She had been director-product management with Equifax and senior manager in product development with MCI. Steven J. Schiffman has been named EVP-marketing. He had been VP-strategic planning for NASCAR, and, prior to that, was in several executive positions with Kraft Foods, cheese division. Paul J. Kocin joins the network as winter weather expert. He had been a meteorologist in the development and training branch of NOAA's Hydrometeorological Prediction Center in Camp Springs, Md. Prior to that, he was a research meteorologist in the Laboratory for Atmospheres at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
