Racing Group Puts Wussler At Wheel

CABLE WORLD STAFF

A new racing group has turned to television veteran Robert Wussler to help get it on the air.

Last week Team Sports Entertainment Inc. announced that Robert Wussler had joined its board and would serve as the company's lead negotiator in securing a television contract for its newly formed racing league Team Racing Auto Circuit (TRAC).

?Due to the fact that many people will measure TRAC's success by the initial television contracts we obtain, the addition of Mr. Wussler and his wealth of expertise and knowledge will prove to be invaluable as we begin finalizing the league structure and negotiating television contracts for the inaugural TRAC season in 2003,? CEO Terry Washburn said in a statement.

Wussler spent 21 years at CBS, first in news, then at CBS Sports, before being named president of the network.

In 1980, Mr. Wussler co-founded CNN with Ted Turner. Mr. Wussler also helped Turner Broadcasting acquire high-profile sports and entertainment properties, including the NBA, the NFL, the Goodwill Games and exclusive movie packages

From 1989 to 1992, Wussler was president and CEO of COMSAT Video Enterprises, which grew rapidly in the field of on-demand video in the hotel industry.

During the past several years, he ran the Wussler Group, an international media consultancy focusing on developing television and Internet properties, electronic commerce and convergence technologies.

Currently, Wussler is president and CEO of Ted Turner Pictures, a newly created company that develops theatrical motion pictures and television documentaries on current and historical issues.

Team Sports Entertainment is a sports and entertainment marketing and management company.

TRAC plans to build a stock-car league by focusing on growing the existing base of stock-car fans through team-based marketing. TRAC will provide this content to its various distribution partners through a league structure that will utilize revenue sharing and centralized purchasing.
