CABLE WORLD STAFF
Two men who were allegedly part of a multi-million dollar cable piracy ring were nabbed last week in Riverside County, Calif., after a sting operation by local police and MediaOne.
Moreno Valley Police Department officers and representatives of MediaOne's El Segundo unit, executed search warrants at three homes, looking for illegal descrambling boxes. The raid turned up more than $1 million in illegal boxes, computer chips and evidence of shipping and billing transactions.
Two men, Charles Balan, 28, of Romoland, Calif., and Brian Fulk, 24, of Moreno Valley, Calif., were arrested. A third alleged accomplice is being sought.
Two Web sites reportedly used to hawk the illegal gear were also shut down.
