USA ORDERS DOUBLE DOSE OF REALITY FOR FRIDAYS

USA Network is producing two new pilots for one-hour reality shows that would fit into its Crime Fridays prime-time block. One show, True Crimes of Passion, produced by Arnold Shapiro, re-creates juicy cases involving love triangles, jealousy and adultery. Susan Dey hosts. Not by the Book, from John Walsh and Lance Heflin, looks at law enforcement officials using questionable and unorthodox methods to solve crimes.

A&E GOES INTERACTIVE

A&E will launch an interactive television version of Tvography, sponsored by Mazda. Beginning Oct. 14, using technology from GoldPocket Interactive, viewers will be able to win prizes by taking part in a trivia game.

BENNETT HAS HOLIDAY GREETINGS FOR HALLMARK

Hallmark Channel will air Christmas With Tony Bennett ? Behind the Scenes on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. The half-hour special, produced by Hallmark Entertainment exclusively for the network, follows the singer as he prepares his first holiday release since 1968. The CD, featuring holiday classics performed by Bennett with the London Symphony Orchestra, will be sold in Hallmark Gold Crown stores, where the special will be promoted.

?AB FAB? GALS BACK AGAIN

Patsy and Edina return to Comedy Central in a new Absolutely Fabulous Special to premiere in the U.S. in January. Parts of the show were shot in New York, where the drunken duo took in Fashion Week.

WALT'S JOHN HANCOCK ON NEW DISNEY CHANNEL LOGO

Disney Channel launched a new worldwide channel logo and overall on-air graphics package in the United States today and will roll out this new look on each of its 15 Disney Channels worldwide this year. The new logo combines the signature of Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse's distinctive ears.

STUDENTS ENROLLED IN UTV

ESPN released a study that found that approximately 4.8 million students who are enrolled at four-year colleges watch TV each week in locations not measured by Nielsen. The study found that the average student spends 14.5 hours watching TV each week.
