COX COMMUNICATIONS (NYSE: COX)

Cox launched its first open-access trial in El Dorado, Ark., using high-speed ISP services from Earthlink and AOL. Last week Cox completed the installations of 50 cable modems for the technical trials.

WALT DISNEY CO. (NYSE: DIS)

Disney continued paring its family last week, laying off an undisclosed number of workers at Disney Internet Group and ABCNews.com. Disney also closed Mr. Showbiz, an entertainment website.

WINK COMMUNICATIONS (NASDAQ: WINK)

Wink, DirecTV and Music Choice said DirecTV viewers can now buy CDs and access a host of music-related information on 12 enhanced interactive audio channels.

NEWS CORP. (NYSE: NWS)

Due to current economic conditions, it's unlikely News Corp. will seek to take its Sky Global satellite television assets public, said Rupert Murdoch, at least for the foreseeable future.
