AOL TIME WARNER (NYSE: AOL)
AOL Time Warner spent nearly $1 billion in the third quarter to buy back about 22.2 million shares of its stock. The purchase is part of its $5 billion, two-year buyback program.

Gemstar plans to launch an interactive program guide in Japan. The IPG is expected to be deployed on analog and satellite TV set-tops, as well as other devices.
AT&T CORP. (NYSE: T)
Meeting strong investor demand, AT&T upped the size of its bond offering to over $10 billion. The sale, expected last Thursday, was a combination of 10- and 30-year bonds.
