E! Adds Adventure in 2001

ANDREA FIGLER

E! is taking its pursuit of celebrity to the ends of the earth.

Celebrity Adventures, a half-hour weekly show scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of next year, will follow celebrities on their vacations to see what kind of exotic adventures they seek, such as swimming with sharks in Australia or climbing the trees of the Costa Rican rainforest.

"We get you closer to Hollywood and the celebrities than anyone can," says Wooten Lee, director-publicity and media relations.

Another show, A.J. After Hours, will tag along with celebrities during their late-night rendezvous in New York City.

"No topic is taboo; no destination is off limits," Lee said.

Style, another network owned by E! Networks, also plans to air more of what it does best next year.

Fashion Review All-Star, a half-hour weekly program, will feature Hollywood stars in their best styles as they walk down the red carpet.

The Look For Less, also due in the second quarter, will show viewers how to get high-class fashion at discount store prices.

E! Networks could make these shows interactive next year if all goes well with its guinea pig show, Fashion Emergency, which launched interactive applications last week. E! teamed up with Mixed Signals Technologies to allow television viewers to vote on the show's fashion makeovers.

"I would imagine E! would start taking it to other shows if it's successful," says Jody Stark, an executive for Mixed Signals. "It's doing some groundbreaking work. Someday you'll see something like national elections being decided through the television."
