Keywest Technology donated a MediaXtreme information messaging and graphics station to the Cable Center. MediaXtreme allows users to combine live video with graphic content.
Syndeo, Nuera, IP Unity, and Imagine Broadband formed the Voice Now partnership to accelerate the deployment of VoIP over cable with an end-to-end, multiservice compatible, PacketCable-based architecture.
Deployments
Insight will deploy C-COR.net's Mobile Workforce Manager in Lexington and Louisville, Ky. Time Warner Cable has begun deploying C-COR's ISM system's network service manager software application module in its Oceanic system.
Cox will spend $65 million on Nortel's optical Ethernet, next-gen SONET and telephony equipment over the next three years. Cox is purchasing Nortel's OPTera Metro and DMS products to increase network capacity.
Mediacom is deploying BigBand Networks' BMR for digital broadcast services in eight sites throughout Georgia and Illinois. Knology is deploying the BMR in all seven of its systems.
Time Warner Cable has deployed SeaChange VOD systems in 14 of its divisions and two others that will become part of the Advance/Newhouse group. All 16 locations are live with the TWC iCONTROL service, providing a range of on-demand programming.
Milestones
Pace Micro Technology has shipped three million digital cable home gateways (set-top boxes) with integrated modems for cable operators worldwide. Pace has deployed home gateways with DOCSIS, EuroDOCSIS and DAVIC standard transport mechanisms. Motorola announced that it is the first cable modem supplier to have reached the 10 million cable modem shipment mark.
Deals
nCube signed a multimillion dollar contract with Adlink to deploy the newest versions of nCube's digital ad insertion system. Adlink is upgrading its digital ad insertion capability to support the digital market. Acterna is partnering with MDSI (Mobile Data Solutions) to integrate MDSI's Advantex solution with Acterna's advanced DSAM-2500 Digital Service Activation Meter. Concurrent Computer and Scientific-Atlanta successfully tested the interoperability of S-A's Prisma GigE optical transport technology with Concurrent's MediaHawk Video Server. ADC and Stargus signed a worldwide reseller agreement that enables ADC to resell Stargus' CableEdge data collection and expert analysis platform and Network Optimize and Service Assure applications.
