Tunable Laser
Princeton Optronics’s high-power Continuous Wave tunable laser enables carriers to cost-effectively deploy terrestrial dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and optical networking applications. Princeton’s product addresses carriers’ ultra long-haul and long-haul needs. CPE Splitter
A small form factor customer premises equipment (CPE) splitter is available from Wilcom for installation in network interface device (NID) boxes. Model PS-11 is similar in size and mounting dimensions to a standard station protector, which enables the device to be mounted in just about any manufacturer’s NID box on the Telco side of the demarcation point. A UL-approved Euro-style terminal strip allows for easy installation and the ATU-R terminals connect directly to the asymmetrical digital subscriber line (ADSL) equipment with existing cable. The unit employs a 7-KHz filter.

Geo-Textile Innerduct
TVC Communications is now offering its MaxCell, a geo-textile innerduct, in a variety of configurations. The product was originally designed for use in 3-inch or larger conduits with each MaxCell pack designed to hold one cable with an OD up to 1-inch, and two cables with ODs up to .75 inch. MaxCell is now available in 2-inch/2-cell and 2-inch/3-cell configurations. Used in a 2-inch conduit, the 2-inch/2-cell can hold one 1-inch cable and one .75-inch cable. The 2-inch/3-cell is designed for 2-inch conduits, and can hold three .75-inch cables.

Test and Measurement Streamer
Videotek has introduced the STM-350 test and measurement streamer to enhance network monitoring capabilities. The STM-350 is designed to interface with Videotek’s VTM-300 and VTM-400HD systems, and its simple-to-operate, real-time streaming video unit works through SpyderWeb software. The STM-350 is a 2 RU device offering front panel controls for easy "set it and forget it" operation. The unit provides full confidence video and audio streaming for quality live motion image and stereo audio of any Videotek VTM-300 series or VTM-400HD display. All the necessary interface items are included in the single unit.

Hipot Testers
New from AEMC Instruments is a line of Hipot Testers for production and lab testing of UL, CSA, and IEC standards. The testers can be used for AC and DC withstanding voltage tests up to 6kV on various types of electrical equipment and components. Up to six different tests and programs can be stored and initiated at the touch of a button.

BNC Bulkhead Jack
The RF Connectors RFB-1116-I-03 isolated ground BNC receptacle is designed for applications requiring insulation between the main connector body and the threaded mounting surface. A circuit ground signal passes through the panel via the solder lug for termination inside a device or other grounding point. The jack mates with any standard BNC plug and features gold plated contact and valox insulation.

IP-MPEG Media Bridge
COAX Corporation’s integrated IP-MPEG Media Bridge allows streaming media suppliers to deliver Internet protocol (IP) content to TV sets. The same hardware is used to simultaneously receive IP and Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) video and deliver MPEG-2 transport streams to digital set-top boxes. The capability will allow cable companies to use their existing set-top boxes to receive IP streaming video.

Return Spectrum Multiplier Node
Olson Technology’s return spectrum multiplier node is an integrated, four-band conversion system with a distributed feedback (DFB) return laser. When operated with the Olson Technology OTDC-440 Down Converter/Optical Receiver, the RSM-II gives the operator a four-times spectrum multiplication over a single fiber. This product is ideal for heavy traffic return nodes on currently installed fiber and provides plug and play installation.

Micro Platform
Patriot Scientific (PTSC) offers a home gateway server microplatform called the Ignite Micro-Platform. This product is a small-outline board designed as a plug-in for developing home gateways, handheld Internet devices, set-top boxes and other consumer products. Features include a 32-bit microprocessor based on PTSC’s proprietary Removed Operand Set Computer (ROSC) architecture, which allows the use of 8-bit instructions. The microplatform comes with Windriver’s VxWorks real-time operating system and PTSC’s vxPresso.

"Brickwall" Lowpass Filters
Microwave Filter Company "brickwall" lowpass filters are used to suppress a block of channels for reinsertion of other programming. The series 6211LP consists of a sharp lowpass filter combined with a tuned channel deletion filter. The network divides the entire TV spectrum in two (passband and stopband) without sacrificing a channel as a guardband. The stopband rejection is 50 dB (min), with band edge insertion losses ranging from 5.5 dB to 8.5 dB (max, depending on channels selected). This unit is available in cable channels up to 91. A temperature compensated version is also available. Custom impedances and connectors can be supplied to order.

Rack System
Knack Manufacturing has added the Fast Rack model 1280 Ladder Rack to its Weather Guard truck and van equipment line. Designed to install in about an hour, the system takes only eight bolts to assemble and 12 bolts to install. It is strong enough to hold up to 1,000 lbs. load capacity. Model 1285 accessory cable screen clamps to the front legs of the rack with no drilling required.

ComSonics’ enhanced its WindowLite Installer with digital-reading functionality. The WindowLite Installer Digital gives technicians the ability to read digital channel power, as well as perform measurements on analog carriers. Chemical-resistant fiber
Optical Cable Corporation has developed its new GX-Series Subgrouping double-jacketed fiber optic cable for environments requiring chemical resistance. The jacket of this product is resistant to fuels, oils, liquids, cleaning agents and acids sometimes found in industrial and agricultural environments. The fiber count for the cable can range from 2 to 144 optical fibers in a single jacket, and the cable can mix multimode and single-mode optical fibers within a single cable.

Broadband Radio
Thomson Multimedia’s RCA Internet Radio lets listeners tune into favorite Internet broadcasts without using a personal computer (PC) connection. Using a broadband connection, such as digital cable, listeners can tune into AM, FM or Internet radio channels via the table-top device. Using the Kerbango tuning service, consumers can access thousands of radio stations broadcast over the Internet, including sports events, live concerts, news and talk radio. The service features easy-to-use menus for quick location of stations. The radio also features an alarm function.

Seismic Bracket
Chatworth Products’ MegaFrame Seismic Bracket secures the chassis of servers and computers to the MegaFrame cabinet. The bracket protects equipment from being bumped, dented or shifted off its shelf. It can secure one piece of equipment, two pieces of equipment of the same height or two pieces of equipment of different height. Brackets are available for the 19 inch and 23 inch MegaFrame cabinets. The bracket can be added to any of these cabinets that are 24 inches in depth or greater.

Low-Voltage Switches
Analog Devices has announced three new members of its CMOS switch family. The new devices consist of a pair of single-pole/single-throw (SPST) switches and an single-pole/double throw (SPDT) switch. All three switches are designed to operate at supply voltages as low as 1.8 volts. They can be used for data acquisition systems, communication systems, audio and video switching and automatic test equipment applications.

Home Wiring System
The UniHome Network Box from Jensen Tools is a home wiring system designed to centrally manage wiring and network connections. It is in compliance withthe TIA-570-A residential wiring standards and the EIA-600 Consumer ElectronicsBus (CE Bus). The device features support for telco, cable and satellite outside services and telephone, television, data device and video inside services. Category 5/5E twisted and RG-6 coaxial cable are supported, and the unit includes a six port module for fast Ethernet networks, six ports for telephones, a CATV input, eight ports for video and a mounting plate for hub or switch connection.

Optical Transceivers for Fibre Channel
New rate-agile optical transceivers from Stratos Lightwave are designed for high-performance Fibre Channel applications. Available in 2x5 pin and pluggable small form factor versions, the transceivers can operate at either 1x or 2x fibre channel, depending on the system board used. The rate agile capability gives storage area networking OEMs manufacturing flexibility because these transceivers can be installed in systems running at fixed speeds of 1.0625 Gbps or 2.125 Gbps and systems with auto-negotiate at the two data rates.
