SCTE Message: Expo Links Leadership, Learning, Camaraderie
By

At SCTE, we’re gearing up for an exciting schedule of events at this year’s Cable-Tec Expo, coming May 8-11 to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. As custodians of the industry’s leading event for technical telecommunications professionals, we pride ourselves on being able to deliver this unique and valuable forum as a way for you to sharpen your knowledge and skills, network with colleagues and experience technical solutions hands-on. We look forward to seeing more than 11,000 of you—along with 400 or more manufacturers and service providers-from around the world, as you join us to take full advantage of all of the leadership, learning and camaraderie Expo has to offer.

Robert Sachs leads off

This year, we’ll kick off Cable-Tec Expo with a dynamic keynote speaker—National Cable Television Association (NCTA) president and chief executive officer (CEO), Robert Sachs—who will talk about NCTA’s important work in Washington, D.C., forwarding cable industry interests. A 20-year cable television industry veteran and 25-year public-policy attorney, Sachs is renowned for his leadership at NCTA, and for his work as co-founder of Continental Consulting Group and as senior vice president of corporate and legal affairs for Continental Cablevision and its successor, MediaOne.

Content joins technology

Immediately following Sachs’ address at the engineering conference, you’ll also hear panel discussions among some of the industry’s most high-profile CEOs and chief technology officers (CTOs). These experts will take a look at new trends and technologies, offering their insights about the future of broadband and the steps we can take to maximize our success. In the wake of an evolving industry, these panel discussions promise a lively dialogue about service, content priorities, and the technology expertise that can deliver them.

Practical learning at the Expo workshops

Led by chair Brad Dusto—Comcast’s executive vice president (EVP) and CTO—the Cable-Tec Expo Program Subcommittee has hand-picked relevant, practical topics for productive learning at Expo Workshops.

You’ll discover the bottom-line on open/managed access and enabling multiple Internet service providers (ISPs) over your network. Learn how to implement new services, improve return path performance, and hire, train and retain your technical team. Find out the most effective techniques for managing services over an Internet protocol (IP) network or achieving carrier-class service. Master the details of home networking or a video-on-demand (VOD) launch. Whatever your development and deployment questions, you’ll get the answers, solutions and troubleshooting tips you need in the Expo Workshops.

Exhibits and more

At Cable-Tec Expo, you’ll also have the chance to explore technical tools and applications available from leading broadband vendors and experts. You can enjoy the company of professional peers, and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of those honored with awards. Relax and have fun at a variety of special events, including the popular Expo Evening with Cable-Tec Games.

As a technical broadband professional, no other industry event can offer you the same opportunities for learning, advancing your career or business and connecting with influential peers and leaders as Cable-Tec Expo. We look forward to welcoming you in Orlando for this important industry event.
