SCTE MESSAGE

Engineering Abounds In the Expo Exhibit Hall

As chair of the Expo 2003 exhibitor subcommittee, I'd like to encourage all of you to join us in historic Philadelphia May 11-14 for a very special event--the 20th anniversary Cable-Tec Expo.

SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo made its debut in 1983 with a unique focus on cable engineering and hardware. For those who've been attending Expos for many years, you'll be happy to find that Expo 2003 still will offer you a look at the latest in engineering news, hardware and services critical to your everyday operations.

For those of you who will be attending for the very first time, I am confident that your introduction to Expo will be one that you'll remember no matter how many times you participate again in the future.

Discover practical tools On the exhibit floor

Walking the floor, it's quite impressive--an entire trade show devoted completely to cable engineering--with lots of opportunity for a hands-on exploration of the most current tools and techniques. The exhibit hall is one of biggest reasons why Cable-Tec Expo appeals to so many people in the cable telecommunications industry--it's a completely unique arena, one in which cable engineering is the number one priority and hardware the main focus. There are no programmers in the Expo Exhibit Hall; nearly everybody there is geared toward providing knowledge about the latest in technical tools and their applications in an environment that's conducive to practical learning and real-world solutions.

As you enter the Expo exhibit hall, you'll see product-specific hardware displays that feature fiber, connectors, modems and more; the familiar faces of peers you've been meaning to catch up with; and plenty of colleagues you still hope to meet.

Of course with so much to see and do at Expo, it's easy to lose track of time. Make the most of your Expo experience by planning ahead with Expo's first Interactive Floor Plan, available on the Expo Web site at expo.scte.org. There, you can view the list of exhibitors and discover where they are located on the exhibit floor before you get to the show.

While you're at Expo, you'll want to take advantage of the many educational opportunities that are also available:

* Specially priced seminars on Sunday, May 11, including DOCSIS Migration by Terayon and SCTE, Meeting the Challenges of Advanced Services Deployment and Operation by MasTec and Grounding Communication Sites by R.O. Associates.

* 20 educational workshops selected by the program subcommittee

*chaired by Tony Werner, CTO, Liberty Media

*focus on the issues that are most important to you, such as DOCSIS, video-on-demand, network architectures and security, troubleshooting techniques and wireless technologies.

* SCTE's Bookstore and Cyber Café offers technical manuals and training materials, as well as a place to rest your feet or browse the web.

* SCTE certification testing, where you can validate your expertise and earn certification for a variety of SCTE professional designations.

In addition to the exhibit hall and the educational programs, enjoy yourself at Expo Evening, watch regional winners compete in the Cable-Tec Games and applaud excellence at the Annual Awards Luncheon.

I look forward to seeing you there!
