Cable Television Laboratories last week certified a record 12 more cable modems as meeting its DOCSIS 1.1 standards.

The companies certified in the latest wave included Accton, Arris, Askey, Conexant, Quanta, Samsung, Scientific-Atlanta, Tellabs, Terayon, Thompson and Xrostech. Cable Labs also qualified two Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTSs) as DOCSIS 1.1 certified, one from Arris and one from Riverstone.

The new generation of equipment allows cable operators to offer tiered high-speed Internet access and other digital services.
