TW Catches Road Runner

K.C. NEEL

Time Warner Cable is offering its Columbus, Ohio, customers high-speed wireless and wireline home networking services as part of a 90-day trial with Road Runner and SOHOware.

Road Runner customers in Columbus can share their high-speed connections between two personal computers for $9.95 a month as long as they have also purchased the necessary home networking equipment from SOHOware. The deal includes SOHOware's CableFree NetBlaster wireless product. Time Warner is offering rebated equipment via the Web.

Time Warner has a similar trial under way with Road Runner and SOHOware in its Austin and San Antonio, Texas, systems. In that trial, Time Warner is allowing customers to share as many as four PCs for $19.95 a month extra.

Time Warner is using SOHOware's Broadband Internet Gateway product in the Texas trial.
