Now that Time Warner has met success with DVRs and has deployed them across most of its systems, it's just a matter of time before the rest of the industry follows suit. Several of the other major MSOs have announced specific plans to roll out DVRs before the end of '03. All believe DVR capability could be an attractive complement to video-on-demand. While the numbers of subscribers are still relatively small, networks and advertisers can expect adoption to accelerate, undercutting the way the ad model has worked for half a century.
