Hispanic interest in advanced services is high, particularly among those who consider themselves English-proficient. Hispanic penetration for digital and HSD rival those of whites, with 30% of all urban Hispanics subscribing. More compelling is interest in new services. Here 40% of English proficient Hispanics said they subscribe to digital cable and another 25% said they would subscribe, making for a total 65% who would take the service. Similarly, 51% would either subscribe or might subscribe to high-speed data, similar levels of demand are seen for VOD. If national averages were near these levels, cable would be a different ? and more profitable ? business.
