THIN STAYS IN

BY JONATHAN BLUM, KAGAN

Thick client set-tops continue to face an uphill fight. Though the cover chart shows that HD set-tops are edging into the market, the only maker that specializes in thick set-tops, Sony, is shipping the least amount of units overall. This number will only go down as the major customer for heavy boxes, Cablevision, has stepped away from the technology.

For more information on the set-top box market, see ?VOD & ITV Investor? at www.kagan.com.
