AT&T Broadband has chosen Qpass to provide "eWallet" transaction services for the MSO's advanced interactive TV platform.
Qpass will provide a secure commerce infrastructure to support transactions between online merchants and AT&T customers who use their advanced set-top boxes to buy products and services. The company will secure, manage and transfer payments during t-commerce transactions. The company has similar deals with AT&T cousins Digital PocketNet and WorldNet.
AT&T says the Qpass technology will eliminate the need for AT&T customers to enter personal or credit card information with each transaction or with each individual merchant.
The information is stored once and then delivered to the merchant with each transaction. The company also will provide customer service and account management services for AT&T's t-commerce customers.
