The NBA is getting into the interactive game by offering The NBA Beat, an interactive talk show made available on NBA.com TV.
The streaming audio show, which is available on DirecTV or via In Demand, will be televised weekdays beginning Oct. 31 and will originate from the NBA Store in New York City. The show will have a talk-show format where fans can give their perspective on what's happening around the league. Listeners can call NBA.com or send e-mails to the Internet service.
"The NBA Beat will provide a global forum for fans to interact with each other and the most knowledgeable league insiders," says Adam Silver, president/CEO of NBA Entertainment. "This program will be one more opportunity for basketball aficionados to get their daily dose of NBA."
NBA.com TV anchors will host the show on a rotating schedule. Special guests will include players, coaches and general managers, as well as league executives and members of the sports media.
NBA.com TV, which is produced by NBA Entertainment, combines real-time statistics, scores and news from NBA .com with live studio programming, live "look-ins" of games in progress, game highlights and programming from NBA's archive.
STREAMSEARCH, ICTV JOIN FORCES StreamSearch.com and ICTV have formed a relationship to showcase a "TV-Ready" version of StreamSearch's Web site and search engine services on ICTV's platform. The two companies will integrate StreamSearch's multimedia search capabilities and database, including links to about 2M audio and video files, into ICTV's system.
AOL "CLUB" TOP 25M MEMBERS America Online says its membership numbers have topped 25M worldwide, including an addition of more than 6M customers this year. Much of the growth is attributed to launches in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. Outside the United States, AOL services are available in 16 countries and eight languages.
BOWIE OFFERS MISSING TRACK Rock legend David Bowie will offer fans who bought his new album an opportunity to download a song that was omitted from the CD in a production error. Bowie, who is considered an Internet pioneer, teamed up with online music jukebox company MusicMatch and music recognition technology company Gracenote for the offer, which enables fans who purchased Bowie at the Beeb to obtain the live version of "Ziggy Stardust," which was intended for the CD set.
