Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

I had more fun reading about cable's families than I have had reading a trade article in a long time ("In Cable, It's All About Family," Oct. 4). Keep it up.

I know you acknowledged it was a representative sample. But after showcasing more than 20 of our industry's "family affairs," surely you've gotten hit with a list of "What about...?" and "You forgot...!" We'll throw out a couple here, plus a suggested follow-up.

What about the Burke brothers, and their famous dad? Or the Rose brothers, Bob (EVP, Court TV) and Chris (host, Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Net). And just the other day, I met Charley Humbard, former Turner exec and now president and CEO of the Gospel Music Channel, son of famous televangelist, Rex Humbard.

And then there's a whole separate category, for which you may have to seek permission from the participants...Married Couples of Cable!...like Vince and Linda McMahon of WWE or Jimmy and Kristin Dolan. It's especially challenging when they have different last names, like Grace Paeck of College Sports TV and Rob Jacobson of In Demand.

Keep the lighter, more personal side of our industry visible.
