TechTV last week became the latest programmer to cut its staff, citing a weak ad market and a downturn in the technology sector.
The network said it was undergoing ?a broad corporate restructuring plan? that would lead to the elimination of 130 positions. In a statement, the company said all areas of the company would be affected and the changes would take effect immediately.
?The business changes we need to make are difficult and reflect the volatile economy we are all faced with,? Larry Wangberg, TechTV's chairman and CEO, said in the statement. ?We must focus on what is best for our business success, while at the same time do our best to have the least possible effect on our associates. We are confident that TechTV will continue to provide its customers with the unique programming that they value and expect from us.?
In recent weeks, E! Entertainment Network, Discovery Communications and WWF Entertainment have also cut back on staff.
