A new accord pairs Liberate Technologies' TV platform software with nCube's VOD system, a combination the companies say will enhance low powered digital set-top boxes.
"If the operator wants to do VOD, one of their choices is the nCube solution that is integrated with the Liberate software platform," says Jay Schiller, director-product management, nCube. "Liberate's technology provides elegant VOD solutions."
The two companies will co-market the joint solution and will embark upon compatibility tests for future products, including advanced set-top boxes.
They say it's the first integration to use Liberate's VOC gateway technology.
"By integrating and standardizing our VOD gateway technology, Liberate is in an even stronger position to deliver what network operators need, quickly and smoothly," says David Limp, SVP-corporate development, Liberate.
nCube has also become an infrastructure partner in the Liberate PopTV Program. Liberate launched PopTV last December.
Schiller says PopTV is used for writing applications and providing interactive TV solutions under the Liberate platform.
