WHAT DSL PRICE CUTS?

BY IAN OLGEIRSON, KAGAN

The cable industry is burying concerns over DSL price cuts, posting impressive customer growth without substantial drops in revenue per sub. Comcast, adding nearly half a million new data subs, flaunted its advantage while indicating there is plenty of growth ahead before a low-end tier needs to be introduced. Telephony proved the exception for the upbeat Comcast, posting substantial declines in customers in favor of cash flow increases, reaching 15% in Q3. The depth of its retooling exceeds expectations and there are few assurances of a speedy return to growth next year. VoIP in 2005 promises to provide the trigger.
